Tonight's question and answer session with Tory leader David Cameron will be held at St Paul's Church in Queen Caroline Street, Hammersmith.

The 'Cameron Direct' event, in which around 150 residents will be able to quiz the prospective Prime Minister, has been brought forward an hour to 6pm.

The contentious plans for a new housing development in Goldhawk Road, Shepherd's Bush, is likely to be high on the agenda.

Those wishing to attend must have booked places in advance.

Tory leader David Cameron will take questions from voters at an event in Hammersmith tomorrow night (5).

Opponents of a contentious housing scheme in Shepherd's Bush are planning to attend to voice their anger over Hammersmith and Fulham Council's approach to development, as the Conservative authority is widely seen as a flagship for Cameron's potential government.

A campaign is being waged by Hammersmith and Fulham Council to try to disrupt plans for a giant 'super-sewer' that would stop billions of litres of raw sewage being pumped into the Thames.

The authority believes the £2.2 billion Tideway Tunnel project - which has the backing of Government, the Mayor of London and anti-pollution campaigners - will prove too damaging to the lives of residents in the borough and will not bring enough improvements to justify the cost.

Moviegoers visiting the new cinema at Westfield will be offered booze in the aisles - but ushers wearing night vision goggles will be on hand to make sure everyone in the audience behaves.

Multiplex chain Vue is planning to sell beer and wine from trays and trolleys in each of its 14 screens when the new 24-hour venue opens in the Shepherd's Bush shopping centre early next year, where live music, karaoke, film singalongs, dance events and plays will be offered alongside traditional movies.

A bitterly contested development on the site of a former care home in Shepherd's Bush was given the green light last night despite angry protests at Hammersmith Town Hall.

Around 70 residents opposed to plans for 66 new homes in Goldhawk Road brought placards and banners to the planning meeting and heckled councillors throughout the four-hour debate.

A new website offering opinions on all Hammersmith and Fulham's public services has been slammed as a waste of time and money by town hall chiefs despite painting a rosy picture of life in the borough.

The Oneplace service unveiled today (9) was created to give people an independent overview of how their council, police and health service are performing on issues such as crime, levels of affordable housing and general quality of life.

A new supermarket branch opening in Uxbridge Road next week has created 17 jobs for people living in the area.

The Tesco Express will open its doors at 8am on Wednesday (9), with an official launch at 10.30am when £500 will be donated to a local organisation.

Manager Abdellah Ezbakh said: "We've recruited a great team of people and I'm looking forward to working with my new staff. We are delighted to be opening a Tesco Express store in Shepherd's Bush and look forward to playing an active role in the local community."
The store will open from 6am till 11pm, seven days a week.

A controversial decision allowing developers to pull down a Shepherd's Bush industrial park that is home to several thriving businesses could be overturned by central Government.

Plans by Londonewcastle to clear the Goldhawk Industrial Estate to make way for 57 homes and new commercial units were approved by Hammersmith and Fulham Council in September despite fierce opposition from residents, but the secretary of state has now called in the application.

A con artist from Shepherd's Bush who used a forged blue badge to park in disabled spaces was fined nearly £1,000 after being caught out by police and council officers.

Michael Downey, of Devonport Road, was fined £994 at West London Magistrates' Court last month after being convicted of using the fake badge on two occasions.

Two other men from outside the borough were also fined for similar offences following the clampdown.

Amanda Roles, of Hammersmith & Fulham Mencap, said: "It is extremely selfish and inconsiderate. Non-disabled people don't realise how doing everyday normal tasks are so much harder for someone with a disability."
