Tens of thousands of illegal cigarettes were seized from four Shepherd's Bush businesses in a joint raid by police and customs officers.

The teams seized 7,600 packets of cigarettes, 25 kilos of tobacco, 14.5 kilos of tobacco seeds and 36 bottles of vodka operation on which no duty had been paid following the operation on Tuesday afternoon (2).

They also confiscated 76 bags and 22 wraps of cannabis with a street value of £1,000.
Police would not confirm which addresses had been targeted, but they included a market stall and a small supermarket.

One man in his 30s was arrested for immigration offences and investigations are continuing.

Sergeant Finbar King, of Shepherd's Bush Green 24/7 safer neighbourhoods team, said: "The local team have worked in close partnership with HM Revenue & Customs to make a sizeable seizure of tobacco, alcohol and illegal drugs.

"We will continue to target premises that sell goods without paying the necessary duty. We would encourage the public to phone their local safer neighbourhood team, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if they have any information about the illegal sale of the items mentioned."
