Last call for vaccinations against cervical cancer
Parents are reminded that Friday (25) is the last day to hand in consent forms at school allowing their daughters to be vaccinated against a virus which can cause cervical cancer.
NHS Hammersmith and Fulham is urging all parents of girls aged 12 to 16 to sign the forms so they can take part in the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme.
Immunisation improvement coordinator Veena Bhumvra said: "We'd encourage all parents to sign the consent form and get their daughter to hand it back to the appropriate person in their school by September 25.
"By signing your daughter up to have the HPV vaccination you are helping protect her from a virus which can lead to a lot of unnecessary pain, discomfort and even early death."
Almost 1,000 of the borough's teenage girls have been vaccinated since the scheme was launched last autumn to protect against the sexually transmitted virus.
