Call for recycling champions in Shepherd's Bush

Posted by Dan Hodges on Sep 30, 09 12:21 PM in Good Causes

People with a passion for recycling are being recruited to try to cut down the amount of rubbish thrown away on council estates.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council is looking for motivated recycling 'champions' to help promote the environmental benefits to fellow tenants and reduce the cost of sending waste to landfill - currently around around £1.4m a year.

Street scene leader Greg Smith said: "I would like to urge as many estate residents as possible to volunteer to become recycling champions. If we all club together, there is no reason why we cannot increase our recycling rates, which in turn helps us to keep our council tax down."

A one hour training session will be held at 2pm on Thursday, October 8 at the White City Community Centre in India Way, White City. Call Stephanie Ward on 020 7549 0305 or email Stephanie@wastewatch.org.uk
