Shepherd's Bush gets knitting

Knitters are being urged to get crafting tiny hats to raise cash for Age Concern following the launch of an annual campaign by drinks manufacturer Innocent.

The Shepherd's Bush-based smoothie maker hopes to beat last year's total of more than 400,000 woolly hats, which fit over the tops of the drinks bottles.

Each one knitted and sent to the firm raises 50p for the older people's charity.

The Big Knit 2009 was launched at the firm's Brackenbury Road headquarters on Wednesday.
