Kids urged to make the most of free swimming

Posted by Dan Hodges on Aug 19, 09 05:32 PM in Clubs/societies

Free swimming is being offered to school children until the end of this month at two of the borough's pools.

NHS Hamersmith and Fulham hopes overweight children will benefit from the scheme at the Janet Adegoke swimming pool in Bloemfontein Road, White City, and Fulham Pools in Normand Park, Lillie Road.

Dr Dagmar Zeuner, director of public health, said: "One of the best ways to combat childhood obesity is by getting youngsters interested in being active from an early age. Swimming is great for your muscles, heart and lungs and is a fun way to let of steam - perfect for getting rid of excess energy."

Registration costs £1 and forms can be downloaded from www.hf-pct.nhs.uk/freeswim
