Borough's diploma students also shine
Yesterday was not all about A-levels, as young people studying alternative courses also arrived at college to learn their fate.
Among them was 20-year-old Daniel Dryland, who was ecstatic after learning he had been awarded three distinctions for a BTEC National Diploma in music practice at the Hammersmith branch of Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College.
"I was expecting one distinction but not that many so I am pretty pleased," said Daniel, from South Ealing.
"I plan to apply to Guitar X, a music school, and study on the instrument more and learn more in-depth things about music. In the future I want to get a proper job in the industry."
Also awarded three distinctions in her IT diploma was Roisin Wood, 25, from Ealing, who at the same time managed an A in chemistry A-level, which will allow her pursue her dream job as a horse vet.
She said: "I was really surprised because I thought I might have messed up. My dad had a stroke and so I missed lots of college and thought there was no way I would get an A. I'm really pleased.
"I haven't slept for two nights. You think you're over that feeling when you're 18 but it is horrible doing it the second time round."
Overall, the college managed a 95 per cent pass rate at A-level and 97 per cent at BTEC National Diploma.
