Westfield cuts service charges
Service charges at Westfield have been cut by around seven per cent following representations from stores.
The Shepherd's Bush mega-mall had set annual rates at just under £14 per square foot earlier this year, which some chains claimed was far higher than they were originally told. Charges for 2009 will now run at just under £13 per square foot.
A spokeswoman said stores would also benefit from promotions costing £4.5 million this year.
She said: "The service charge review process was deferred until the centre had completed at least six months of trading, allowing for a more accurate assessment of the true operating costs."
