Waste workshops for Shepherd's Bush homes
Advice about making the most out of kitchen and garden waste will be offered in a series of public workshops around the borough.
Trained 'composting advisors' will be at Avonmore Primary School in Avonmore Road, West Kensington, from 7pm to 8.30pm on Monday (18) to teach people how to use the home kits handed out by Hammersmith and Fulham Council after it stopped collecting garden refuse.
They will then hold monthly sessions at the farmers' market in Lyric Square in Hammersmith, from 10am to 3.30pm on May 21, July 2, August 6, September 3 and October 1.
A separate session will run at Furnivall Gardens in Hammersmith on Sunday, June 14, from 1pm to 5pm.
Street scene leader Greg Smith said: "Driving large lorries round the borough's streets to collect a small amount of garden waste clearly makes less ecological sense than each garden owner recycling their own garden waste so it is vital that residents know what they are doing."
