Free workshop for Shepherd's Bush parents

Posted by Dan Hodges on Apr 24, 09 04:55 PM in

A free workshop teaching Shepherd's Bush parents how to engage with their children and improve their learning through movement will be held on Monday (27).

All are welcome at the introductory 'active learning' session, which will be run from the Polish Centre in King Street, Hammersmith, from 9am to 11am.

The council-sponsored event includes using for household items like socks, paper bags and egg cups to spark young people's imaginations.

Dr Lala Manners, who is hosting the session, said: "A significant percentage of young children begin their formal education with such poor communication skills that trying to cope with learning the basics and even interacting positively with their peer groups is at best challenging and at worst impossible.

"Our aim for these workshops is to explain to parents and early years practitioners that this method of learning not only works, but is easy to do."
