Doorstep frauds on the prowl in Shepherd's Bush

Bogus trading standards officers are believed to be targeting vulnerable people in Shepherd's Bush.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council sent out a warning after a man tried to talk his way into the home of one elderly woman who has been hit by doorstep frauds before.

A council spokesman said: "If you have fallen for a bogus doorstep salesman, it is more likely that you will be approached again, and they may even pretend to be officials trying to protect you."

Anyone who is approached by someone claiming to be a trading standards officer should refuse entry until they have checked their identity with the council by calling 020 8753 1081.
