Josie's husband issues thanks

Posted by Rebecca Kent on Feb 20, 09 11:27 AM in

The husband of former Labour councillor Josie Wicks has issued a heartfelt thankyou to those who donated money to diabetes UK after his wife's death.

More than £820 pounds was given to the charity in memory of Mrs Wicks, who was a diabetic for more than 50 years.

Donations, plus flowers and tributes poured in after Mrs Wicks' death on January 17 after a lengthy struggle with the disease.

Mr Wicks said: "We would like to thank everyone for their sympathy and kind donations, many of whom heard about Josie's death by reading the Gazette's obituary.

"I would also like to thank actor Richard Briers, who wrote to your letters page on January 16, highlighting Diabetes UK as a worthy charity. I'm sure my wife would have agreed with him."

Mrs Wicks was a Hammersmith and Fulham Councillor for 16 years. She was 64.

We'd like to hear from you.
