Westfield traders revolt

Westfield bosses face a revolt from retailers over higher than expected service charges.

Shop chains have been told they will have to pay £14 per square foot to cover costs such as cleaning and marketing - 75 per cent higher than the £8 originally indicated.

A Westfield spokesman said the centre's high status justified the charges.

Emergency parking measures have been imposed in Shepherd's Bush because of the huge amount of traffic generated by Westfield.

The current Saturday controls will also be imposed on Sundays in controlled parking zone G, which includes streets surrounding the White City shopping centre.

It means that at weekends between 2pm and 4pm and from 6.30pm to 8pm, only residents and business permit holders and their visitors will be able to park.
