Hundreds turn out to save Ginglik
Hundreds of protesters blanketed Shepherd's Bush Green on Saturday in a bid to save the popular music and comedy venue Ginglik.
They flocked in support of the venue located in the converted Edwardian public toilet at the Green, which is being closed down by Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
The council intends to fill it with concrete because it does not want taxpayers to foot the bill for repairs worth £300,000.
This is despite more than £3m pledged by shopping centre developer Westfield to regenerate the green.
Owners Colin Welsh, 30, and Tammi Willis, 31 who have been told they must vacate by February next year, are 'gutted' and say they have received little support from the council despite its promise to "support them in any way we can."
An online petition numbers more than 2000 signatures.
